In an era of increasing global connectivity, ensuring public health and safety at large-scale events is more crucial than ever. Mass gatherings, whether sporting, cultural, religious events, or international summits, present challenges, particularly in the context of food safety, chemical incident response, and water security.

Recognising these challenges, the European Union has supported the development of a series of comprehensive guidance documents aimed at enhancing preparedness and response capabilities for mass gatherings in Central Asia

Developed by leading EU experts in close collaboration with national partners from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, these documents provide practical frameworks to strengthen public health measures, mitigate risks, and ensure coordinated emergency response mechanisms during mass events.

The guidelines were produced with the support of the EU-funded project PRECA - “Preparedness and Response for Mass Gatherings and other Health Threats in Central Asia”, within the framework of the EU CBRN Centres of Excellence
