Acting on intelligence, officers inspected the vessel and seized 75.8 tonnes of illicit cigarettes concealed in five containers.

The operation brought together French Customs, the Customs Intelligence Unit, the Maritime Information Fusion Centre, the Maritime Zone Commander, the Armed Forces in New Caledonia, port authorities, and regional partners. The IORIS platform supported the operation by enabling real-time vessel monitoring, secure information exchange, and a shared operational picture, helping all agencies coordinate the boarding, inspection, and seizure process effectively.

About EU CRIMARIO III

EU CRIMARIO III project title image

EU CRIMARIO III helps national and regional maritime navies, authorities and agencies work together more effectively in complex maritime environments. The IORIS platform, developed by the project, strengthens trust between agencies, improve situational awareness, and enable faster, better-coordinated responses to challenges such as illicit trafficking, maritime security threats, and incidents at sea. In this way, EUCRIMARIO contributes not only to stronger maritime governance, but also to safer and more resilient maritime regions. The project is funded by the EU and implemented by EF.
